Moving Origin Game Files To Steam & Then Verifying Integrity?
Hello, so I own Star Wars Fallen Order on Origin, however I have EA Play and figured I might as well play Fallen Order on Steam (since I hate using multiple launchers). Thing is I got pretty bad internet and wanted to know if I can simply install Fallen Order on Steam, immediately pause it, copy the Data from Origin into the Steam directory, and then verify files? Or is the data structure completely different? Thx

Mato, check if the folder name of the games are the same - I've just been doing this with Aer: Memories of Old from EGS to Steam.
First it was downloading all data but I saw that in Steam the folder is named "AER", while on EGS it's "AERMemoriesOfOld". I "uninstalled" the Steam download, renamed the folder to the Steam way. This time Steam said something about recognising existing data, went on to validate the files and continued the download from the EGS files present.

I am well aware of DRM requirements... My post is referring to game files, the integration of data from Origin to Steam.

to play origin games on steam you must by the games on steam

I assume from your OP post you bought it on Origin rather than via EA Play on Origin

Secondly as you mention EA Play, i assume you mean on Steam.

You could start a download on Steam and then pause it, exit Steam then copy all the files, folders from the Origin version but no guarantee, Steam will not re-download the game.

Note: if it is anything like SWTOR, if you earned achievements on Origin they will trigger on Steam with the same date.

Again... ( didn't think my OP was that hard to understand, because it really isn't..) I am talking about the data, the FILES. Please stop trying to educate me on completely unrelated topics. Read the post again, then you will see what I mean, or one would think you would at least...

Its not difficult to understand if it's on origin it likely won't work that way.

You'd need an app manifest for steam to know you have it, and all of it, plus the DRM parts. Copy pasting from one client to the other won't do anything without an app manifest.

Also no, don't ask for one, that's against the rules. That's why you'd need to doekad through Steam. Else if you get LUCKY, then what Nx mentions *might* work, no guarantees.

Also lose the attitude if you ever want help with anything.

Someone's sure over-sensitive if you think my reply was unfair...
People giving short, vague and completely unrelated replies, simply wastes my time in having to open my Steam. People shouldn't be posting replies if they're not even going to read the OP through. There's also no harm in not saying anything, if you don't know the answer, simply don't answer... People read a post and feel compelled to contribute their opinion or "help" even if it's completely uncalled for or off-topic. If my question was about licensing, then my topic would've mentioned it. If there's any attitude involved in this post it would be from the people replying with cut-off / zero-effort sentences. If you want to play self-righteous please find another topic appropriate to do so on, as my replies are nothing short of reasonable...

i highly recommend that OP stop "flaming and insulting" other Steam Account Users

just because of "misunderstanding and miscommunication" between both sides.

p.s they never "flame and insult" you OP in their post and right now you are the one who started it.

Your reply wasn't "unfair", it was not bright if anything.

They read it. You're not understanding their replies nor being reasonable. Do what was recommended and you'll find out.

Steam uses the app manifest (the .acf file) to manage the installed status. Without it, Steam will redownload the whole thing anyway. So no, it won't work the way you like it.

In which instance did I "flame" anyone? I simply corrected the first one, after that it somehow still wasn't clear as the second person said the exact same thing, in which case I simply stated it clearer... Why would I need to repeat myself three times for a simple question (because people don't actually read the OP or maybe they don't understand English so well)? Up to no point did I insult anyone. Previous reply got hostile for no reason, because of personal sensitivity.

Sure, in which case I explained it to the first, but then it just went on, so it's obviously a result of people not reading either the OP or the replies before replying (in which case the fault is not by me if they're not reading or can't read *no offence*.)

ah okay. Thank you

i think this link will be able to answer OP's thread

https://www.alphr.com/how-to-add-origin-games-to-steam/

the only method is to add the game he wants by

1) click games tab

2) click add a non-steam game to my library

3) then pick the program you want to add to steam

or

fastest method

i) click" add a game"

ii) then pick the program you want to add to steam

you can do this for "star wars Fallen Order" game.

Those are examples of flaming and looking to start an argument. Deflecting with a wildly inaccurate "sensitivity" when you're told to act essentially, more mature is preventing you from getting into trouble plus you were given an answer, though anyone with knowledge knows without the ACF it's pointless as pointed out:

There's also no need to make 3 replies in a row. Use the edit button.

If those replying all have similar responses, then you didn't present it well enough.

You got your answer.
