Buying vbucks through steam

Hey everyone I just topped up my wallet and was wondering if you can use the steam overlay while in fortnite to do purchases has anyone tried this or does it just not work?

You can't use your Steam wallet to buy on a completely separate store.

I described this scenario the OP outlined to my wife and she responded with

So if I open DoorDash through the Steam overlay can I use my Steam Wallet on Arby's? /s

Just imagine being able to buy anything with wallet funds as long as you can do it through the overlay.

That's not how that works. Steam wallet funds only work on Steam, Fortnite is not on Steam.
