Generic SNES controller issues
Bought some INNext snes controllers and immediately had issues trying to map the buttons. The d-pad inputs would NOT register, I'd be able to get one or two mapped and the others just wouldn't work. I've seen others with a similar issue and the suggestion was to map to X and Y axis rather than the dpad- still wouldn't work for me.

My brother showed me the joy.cpl command on windows, but that didn't fix anything. Plus, Steam will now ONLY recognize the snes controllers as Xbox controllers (had no issues seeing them as 'generic gamepad' before I tried the joy.cpl thing). Plugged them in both USB ports, swapped them around, etc but it changed nothing.

They were only $13 so I'm about to throw them in the trash if I can't figure it out :steamsad: I have an Xbox controller already but I wanted that classic feel...

Here's the thread I found that will probably explain it better:

When you choose Save on the Define Layout screen, you are given the option to select the controller type. I'm thinking it was on the default setting (Xbox One Controller) and that's why Steam is displaying it so.

For the d-pad, you want to map to Left Stick X and Left Stick Y. Is that what you were trying?
