if you refunded to an outside payment (not steam wallet) it can take up to a week for the funds to be returned.

also, if you refunded shortly after making the purchase, the funds may never have left the account to begin with.

oh yes i know but what im confused about is i saw the refunded money in my account and now its gone

edit: yes it was refunded 17mins after purchase BUT the money did leave my account get refunded and then leave again i am assuming there is an invisible hold but that doesnt explain to me why it would show up and then disappear if thats the case

Contact your Bank.

Steam and Valve Corporation and Steam Support isn't in charge of your Credit Cards and Debit Cards at all.

i have emailed my bank i am just very curious why the money would show up as refunded and then go away again

A chargeback is a return of money to a payer of some transaction, especially a credit card transaction.

Most commonly the payer is a consumer. The chargeback reverses a money transfer from the consumer's bank account, line of credit, or credit card. The chargeback is ordered by the bank that issued the consumer's payment card.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is for people who don't understand the term "chargeback".

OP, someone also got the same problem as you here

https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/3183485686833102245/

it turns out that the problem is due to the term "chargeback".

and it turns out that very few people nowadays don't understand the term "chargeback" at all.

Nobody has said anything about a chargeback. OP just said they refunded. If the issue was a chargeback OP would have gotten a message about their account being restricted. The other thread is in no way "the same problem" as OP and hasn't even been figured out at all so I don't see how "it turns out the problem is due to the therm 'chargeback'".

I'm just guessing, but it could be that the short interval between the money leaving and the money returning is messing things up a bit. Like maybe the fact that the money returned so quickly was seen as an error and so the money was sent out again and got stuck in limbo?

Really you just need to wait to see what happens and what your bank says and go from there.

Wait a couple of days as the money was first held to send to Steam, then you asked for a refund within the first 24 hours. The bank data needs to catch up because the money did not leave your account therefore there is no money to return.

actually, i have a question here for OP and i want him to answer truthfully and honestly

1) did he ever use any VPN when he is purchasing games on Steam??????

there are Anti virus and anti malware programs that provide VPN.

That would have absolutely nothing to do with anything as the refund was already processed and approved, and VPN's haven't mattered for the steam store in quite a while since they changed how regions work....

Also chargebacks have nothing to do with it, and the other thread you posted has nothing to do with the OP.

Do you see the ORIGINAL charge for the game? SInce you bought and refunded it so quickly its possible instead of seeing a refund you will see that they just cancelled the original charge, in which case you won't see the refund OR the original charge.

That being said as stated if not it can easily take several days for it to show up, even if accepted
