Does it have to be EU though? Just try one until you found one that works. Routing can do funny stuff.

There is no "best" server, plus it can differ for people. For me usually the standard default server works fine, sometimes I switch to Paris, Sweden-Malmö or one of the South Korea ones.

That still can mean that a non-EU server works better. Location isn't as important as you think it is.

Steam already made a nearest best option, problem is that dont mean primetime traffic cant effect this.

ps.
And steam can reset whatever you pick, even isp and Route into steam can get a Global update and change to new nearest, point is there you have no option if they know better in the measurement of the line into them.

example what if steam set a new server up that means no one is use it or switch to it, ( aient gonna happend, user choise is not mandatory, and should be seen as i think i know better.

what you hope for is another angle into a steam server from your direction that better for you.

I use my local server Manchester UK and I don't think I've ever had an issue, not one that has forced me to change servers anyway.

Same.

I have always used Manchester UK as it is the closest to me and I have never had any issues.

In the past however, I have found that making changes to my own PC and most importantly switching from a wifi to ethernet connection have improved download speeds significantly. Chances are any bottleneck is at your end OP and Steam is chucking the data at you as fast as it can.
