Price difference on Store Page and Checkout - Can't create ticket or call anyone.
I am trying to purchase a bundle, for which I already have one of the products. The price listed for the bundle on the Store Page is $12.59. When I go to checkout, the total price is $48.58, which doesn't make sense given the items in the bundle.

I tried to create a ticket, but the Steam Support page just lets me search for issues, not create anything. I tried calling a phone number that I found in multiple places on the web, and that just goes straight to voicemail.

1) Why the price difference?
2) How do I get in touch with *anyone* regarding this issue?

Name of the product you own and the name of the bundle?
But not all bundles are priced to match the singular items in the bundle.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut + Control Ultimate Edition Bundle.

The "Items included in this bundle" section shows both games, and the "Your cost" field is $12.59. That changes on the Checkout page. Why the difference?

That's odd, for me the bundle you mention is showing at 48,58€, as it seemingly should. If there is a bug, it only affects the dollar version. Better ask in the game forum.

Maybe the Control Edition is not factored in correctly.

I already own Control, so the price showing is for Disco Elysium (which is on sale for $13.99) minus the bundle discount (10%). I don't know why I can buy bundles of 1 game with the discount, but this has been Steam standard for as long as I've been buying games. Even if they change the policy of allowing the bundle discount for the one remaining game, it should show as $13.99.

Absolutely agreed under these conditions. So it seems, the bundle is mistakenly treated as a package (which always contains all items involved).
Like I said, best to open a thread in the game forum (it seems to be open for non-owners) and let the publisher sort that out with Steam. Hopefully before the discount runs out.
If it comes to the worst, just buy the game on the regular discount. It's only 10% additional off, that you miss that way.

True, just annoying since it's money I shouldn't have to spend. The more frustrating thing that came out of this is that a company that takes (quite a bit of) my money makes it impossible for me to talk to them directly.

You can reach support via the "Steam Support" option under the "Help" menu (top left of steam client)

Choose "Purchases", then "I cant complete a purchase" and then you will have to search for the game. After that you will be able to ask a question

I already own Control,

Just curious, the copy of Control that you own, did you actually purchase it from Steam or was it possibly redeemed from a Humble monthly bundle, March 2021?

Probably from the Humble Bundle, but I can't be sure.

The layout of the page made it seem like my only option was choosing an issue with a Retail CD Key. I made the report now. Thanks for the tip.

Then you wouldn't own Control Ultimate Edition. You would actually own an expansion-less base version of Control that 505 created just for the Humble bundle. It is titled in your library as the UE version and the store page does accurately identify you as an owner of the UE, but it's by name only and not by content.

This is a continuation of the confusion 505 created last year when they included Control as part of the Humble bundle.

I'd be curious to see Support's response to it.

Fair enough, but the Store Page should recognize that if the Checkout page does.

I don't disagree with you. However, I do know of other instances where publishers have created other bundles that confuse the store/checkout process.

I'm in the same position you are in. 505 created this mess so I'm curious to see what Support has to say about the discrepancies shown with the bundles that contain Control UE.

If they doesn't say they are in your Steam. library, then you don't have actual Control Ultimate Edition on Steam.

i think i know why

1) Control Base game is no longer available to buy on Steam

as in "control" base game without expansions are phased out and won't be sold anymore.

concrete evidence is here

https://store.steampowered.com/franchise/505Games/#browse

if you look from the link i provide, no longer selling "control base game without expansions".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On 27 August 2020, the first anniversary of the game's release, Control: Ultimate Edition was released via Steam, including the base game, both the "Foundation" and "AWE" expansions, and the additional free updates. Control: Ultimate Edition launched on the Epic Games Store, GOG.com, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 10 September 2020, and will be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.

from here

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_(video_game)

under "marketing"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

also, in here "humble bundle website"

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/search?sort=bestselling&search=control

i don't see "control base game" being sold anymore.

it is being replaced with "control ultimate edition".
