Steam Link + Xbox 360 Controller + FFXIV
Hi,

I'm trying to get my Steam Link working with FFXIV and an Xbox 360 controller.

I purchased FFXIV through Steam. I'm using an Xbox 360 with a wired controller adapter. The Steam Link setup shows that all buttons are working.

However, when I launch FFXIV, the only button that works is the Back button, which brings up a menu when I hold it down for a few seconds. I can enable the Virtual Mouse and move the cursor around, but it does not appear to work as a game controller.

Pressing the Xbox button does not bring up any sort of menu. The only button that works is the Back button, and R1 works as a mouse click when I enable mouse mode.

FFXIV works with a controller if I connect it directly to my PC, but I'd like to use the Steam Link to get it to work on my TV.

1. How can I convince Steam to give FFXIV controller inputs?
2. How can I get the big Xbox button to bring up Big Picture Mode?
3. How can I convince Steam that FFXIV supports controllers? It doesn't show up if I filter by "Controller Supported"

I haven't figured out how to do this within Steam -- as far as I can tell, it's a bug within Steam when it deals with external launchers, which FFXIV is. There doesn't seem to be a native way to force Steam to enable controller support.

The closest I've found is to use a third-party program called `GlosSI`: https://github.com/Alia5/GlosSI

This program adds `ffxivboot.exe` as a third-party program with forced controller support. With this program I'm able to use a controller.

Is there any way to accomplish this with Steam without using a third-party program?

Adding the executable as a third-party program?
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/4B8B-9697-2338-40EC

It'll have access to the same controller config options as Steam applications.

Try another game, for starters. One that supports gamepads natively, one that doesn't come with a launcher. Reduce complexity to find out whether your setup works in general. If yes, you can go on with troubleshooting specifically for this game. If no, you can go on with troubleshooting the basics of your setup.
