how do i disable steam input mapper?
would reinstalling steam fix this issue?
Steam settings, the controller group
Still, you can remap it using Steam itself. You can remap XInput to XInput with Steam (did that a couple times to switch the menu buttons).
Also note that nearly all games on Windows only support Xinput meaning, the only way ou can remap them is to use steam Input because they all assume ayou have an xbox controller
In essence you are disabling the only thing that can actually customize your controller in games
"But it doesnt do it in Retroarch or pcx2"
Those don't use Xinput. They use Direct Input.
99.9999% of all windows games that support controllers ONLY support Xinput. Meaning they inherently only support xbox controllers. The ONLY way you can get around this is to use steam which takes yoru controller and allows you to remap things to the xinput specification
