steam says game takes up 85 gbs of space, but it doesnt

ok so i got a new pc recently and although everything is improved, it has way 400 gbs of storage, and not 1 terabyte anymore (ssd) so i wanted to install cod ww2 mp which is about 14 gbs of storage (and i have 35 gbs of storage free) but it says that it will take up 85 gbs of space although it doesnt, i think its beacuse cod ww2 mp comes with cod ww2 singleplayer which takes up 70 gbs of storage and steam doesnt detect that i already installed cod ww2 sp so it wont let me download cod ww2 mp, any help?

If you installed the singleplayer from steam, steam gonna detect it.

But you still need the space.

i did install it from steam but it didnt detect it

Cuz you still need the space.

If all you have is 35 gigs, do not put a 14 gig game on it.

Get a much larger drive. You do need all the space required, the game will have to not only download the *compressed* files, but then uncompress them - that takes up to twice the amount of "listed" space anyway while it's working. If you don't have enough space, not gonna happen at all.

ok but before this all happened, i deinstalled subnautica and hitman 2 then downloaded cod ww2 mp, then downloaded sub and hitman 2 again and it worked but i dont feel like doing all that again so

Your still missing the point Zekiran made above. If you are so low on space you should NOT be filling it. Both HDD and SDD need some space to perform well. Using up all available space reduces performance of a drive. Unless your drive already has a type of provisioning set for the drive so a portion is not available to use you really should not use it all.

At a minimum keep 10% of the total capacity free. So if you have a 500gb drive keep 50gb free, if you have 1 TB drive keep 100GB free and so on.

sorry for the late response and i freed up some space (64 gbs) and 10% of 465 is 46.5 so ill have mroe than 10% of my my storage but my problem is that the game itself isnt 85 gbs but 14 gbs so how can i get steam to realize that its actually 14 gbs?
