DualSense 5 functionality. is it a worthy upgrade from DualShock 4?
Are all the features of the PS5 controller supported on Steam nowadays? Is it worth the upgrade from the PS4 controller?

The controller is supported but I don't believe the adaptive trigger element in is in place yet or when this will happen. The controller itself is absolutely remarkable even on its own without the extras so I'd highly recommend it.

What about the vibrations? I played PS5 on a friend's house and the vibrations were really cool and a massive improvement over the PS4 controller.

You're not missing anything really as they got the basic features to meet just like using PS4.

If you're hoping for that retention on trigger buttons, and special rumble features that show case on PS5, bad news, you don't have that same feature on PC as not yet supported, also no games on PC making any use as of such anyways, it will basically act the same way as your PS4 controller.

I believe the vibrations work by default - they are just better. It's just the trigger element that isn't ironed out yet.

Well that's completely different than what J4MESOX40 said... :/ I don't want to spend money on something which isn't a remarkable improvement..

What do you mean 'work by default' is steam supports vibrations? Because I don't have any vibrations on my PS4 controller and the PS5 controller is in a different league in terms of vibrations.

I haven't tried my DS5 on PC yet but I believe the vibrations work as they would on 3rd party games on the console. Support wasn't in place originally but I believe it's been added.

On PC? Not really as the added extras not really work for PC games. I stick to my DS4 on PC and the Dualsense on PS5 even though I do find the Dualsense a little more comfortable. That alone isn't worth the extra price to have one for PC and I can't arsed repairing the one I have to PS5 and PC depending on what I'm playing

Just like monkey said, you're basically not missing anything really.

And if hoping for new major experience, then you're going to be disappointed. I would recommend sticking to PS4 controller, as I don't think any games for a long while from now will be making full use of PS5 controller as there no 1st party native driver to begin with on PC, and Sony doesn't seem they will supply it either any time soon, so when Sony drops the driver for PC, then you may assume in due time some future games will be making use of the PS5 controller full feature. Maybe try asking again like 4 years, that my best guess.

If that is the case, I will refrain from buying the controller at least until semi-full functionality is compatible on Steam. Already using the PS4 dualshock and while it'd be nice to have a new controller with better size and grip, it's unworthy of its price while the focal functions aren't working.

Anyways, thanks guys!

Like even if they got those new controller features supported, there no games to actually make use of them sadly, so almost no reason to jump to get PS5 controller really. But try back in couple years, and maybe Sony will drop their driver for PC that Game devs will opt to use in their games, or at some point opt to making use drivers from Steam, or use 3rd party if they don't want to wait on Sony in future games.

Haptics or adaptive triggers will probably never work on PC as the tech is proprietary.

We need a driver to enable it and Sony have never supported their pads on PC before.

Not to mention games need to support it as well. Considering XBox gamepads are the gold standard on PC, don't get your hopes up.

Metro Exodus now fully supports the Dual Sense on PC which includes full haptic feedback. Haven't tried it myself as I don't like the game but it apparently works flawlessly.

Wired only at time of writing.
