Account Hacked/Stolen

I played Divinity 2 with my friends on April 3rd and everything was normal, but when we got together again at 9pm EST I saw 100 notifications on my profile, and found that almost all my TF2 inventory items were stolen from me. So I checked my trade history and discovered that all my items were traded an account called Gribovaqrat525. I have blocked and reported them and am working on changing my email and password for my account. I wish to restore my items back to me if possible, if that's not possible so be it, but I would appreciate some assistance from anybody. I have never been hacked/scammed before in my many years of steam and I don't really know how else to go forward, nor do I really even know where to post this discussion.

Sorry for the long story, but I wanted to be as specific as possible so I can hopefully recover my items and never have a situation like this again

Yeah, it's not like I trade or even play tf2 that much anymore, but it still hurts. One last question I have to ask is can that site still steal my account information after I change emails and passwords?

Shouldn't. Check to see if they set an API key, though, from my last post.

Also, the more I remember the more I realise that he could not hove picked a better time to scam me. Since I was playing divinity 2 with my friends late at night I wasn't really focused on this guy. I saw that he was in my friend list and asked for help, so I went through the process with him, but I messed up linking my steam account and was about to give up until convinced me to try again. So I did and went back to playing Divinity with my friends no questions asked, and my friends didnt think any of this event either we just got back on and nearly forgot about it.

Sorry for ranting, and the lack of formatting, this is my first discussion post really. It's just frustrating to see how you got robbed and who did it, knowing that you fell for someone else's trap and that there's nothing you can do but prevent and spread the word. But at least this way I know to trust nobody, not even those In my friends list, as well as learning how to spot scam sites.

Hopefully other people can learn from this, and not end up like me. It is truly a shame how big an issue getting scammed/robbed here is, and how scary it is, I thought even my credit card info was at risk and called to be safe. I was terrified about what else could have been stolen besides my items. Goodnight and thanks for all the help

Things to do now

Scan for Malware/virus https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Change your Account password on a secure device, mobile phone for example.
Generate new back up codes https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Okay, got all that done, just to make sure, does it matter what I enter for the domain for my new API code or can it just be anything.

You want it empty. If there is something listed, revoke it.

Alright, revoked that API key. I apparently never had one to begin with I think, as the domain was empty the first time I clicked on the link. But the domain is blank now. All other steps have been done.

Good. Always best to check it anyway in cases like this.
