How do I get my RTX 2070 to run at 144hz@1080p?? HELP!!!!!
So I was left with such disappointment when I couldn't run my RTX 2070 at 144hz with my ASUS VG248QE 1080p@144hz monitor. I was used to using a DVI cable with my GTX 1070 MSI, worked well with 144hz. The RTX 2070 only has HDMI & Display port, No DVI to connect. I was told that HDMI 2.0 or above can support 144hz or greater with my RTX 2070. I bought a $50 GOLD HDMI cable from Wal-mart & connected it & STILL 60hz.....So I think maybe HDMI 2.0 doesn't work for my monitor. HERE IS LINK TO MY MONITOR: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

So do I need a Display Cable for my monitor to get 144hz with my RTX 2070?

I did some research on that monitor and I can't find any specs on the HDMI port quality that say what version the HDMI port on the monitor is, so we're left with assuming the port on the tv is likely not 2.0. That could be the problem. If the HDMI port on the monitor doesn't do 2.0...it's only going to do 60hz no matter what GPU and what cable you use. It's not going to do 2.0 if it's a 1.0 HDMI port.

You said it ran 144hz with the DVI-D port so there's a chance using an adapter to convert the HDMI out from the video card to DVI in to the monitor will bring 144 back. A chance....not a promise. Cable quality is important. Most of the time paying a high price for a cable doesn't guarantee it's a high quality cable, sometimes it's just the seller or the manufacturer's name you're paying the big buck for. That one though? Since it's gold it's probably a good cable.

This adapter [www.amazon.com] might do the trick.

or they make cables [www.amazon.com] that can do it too that are good quality, and cheap.

Me? If I already spent $50 on a cable I'd try the adapter first. Maybe don't quick order that one. Shop around and find one that guarantees 144hz if you can find one. That one says it will do 1920x1200 and 1080p but doesn't mention anything about refresh rate, so it may not.

HDMI 2.0 supports 144hz @ 1080p I believe, make sure in Windows settings you're selecing the resolution from FHD and not UHD at the top.

The thing is I bought a 2.0 HDMI that was worth $50. I connected it tried everything & still 60hz. I might just need a Display Cable for the RTX 2070 to get 144hz.

Yes yes, I already know all that, how to change the refresh rate & everything. My problem is that I am only getting the 60hz option with the HDMI 2.0 that everyone is saying supports 1080p@144hz & above. My RTX 2070 only has HDMI<Display Port. I used to use a DVI cable for 144hz, you feel me?

I read on google that my monitor might not support HDMI 2.0 & above for 144hz. It's from 2017 but it can run 144hz with ONLY Display and DVI cable. The only option I got for my current setup is getting that Display cable for the 144hz, unless I get a better monitor LOL ♥♥♥♥ that xD

I've looked at 5 sites including ASUS and none specify anything other than HDMI. No 1.2 or 2.0 .

My monitor does have a display port, tbh I never used that cable LOL. I just didn't expect the RTX 2070 NOT to have a dvi port since I been using DVI for years & years. I really hate playing at 60hz xD
