Trading Glitch With Names
Hello! I was gifting my friend some Team Fortress 2 Items, when an unfortunate glitch occurred. It seems my friend's name interfered with the trade, causing the items to go to someone completely different (who I'm certain made and account, and then subsequently left Steam). There was no opportunity to send Valve a ticket through official Steam Support. Any idea how I might be able to get Valve to notice and take care of things? (These aren't cheap items, either, including a Killsteak Big Kill and Killstreak C.A.P.P.E.R.)

You have been scammed
no, it hasn't. They have the same name, one in the Steam URL, the other as just their name

All trades are final anyway. Valve doesn't return items that have been given away so what you believe doesn't change your situation.

But don't you at least want to check your api key?

https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey.

If there is anything set up in there you don't know about or set yourself, your account is compromised and a hijacker can use a bot to redirect your trades.

I know for a fact what computers and devices are authorized. They are in my room with me, currently.

Your Steam items are not on your computer. Do as you wish. Secure your account or not. The burden is on you.

and we know for a fact that when a trade does not go to the account you wanted it to go to, that is a very blatant sign that the account owner has somehow given away their log in and the account is compromised. you can go into denial all you want, that will change nothing.

go and check your APIKEY, is there anything there? it should be empty

A Trade API scam usually works as follows:

The scammer gets your Steam Web API Key. This is obtained when you log into a scam website.

The next time you make a trade, the scammer (a bot) uses this API key to cancel the trade.
The scammer (a bot) sets up another profile that looks exactly like the account you're trying to trade to. It creates a new trade to this bot account, this all happens very fast.

You hit accept on your Mobile Authenticator, and the scam is done - congratulations! you've just sent your items to an unknown 3rd party!

Scammed items are not returned.

Morel of the story... Stop using trading sites outside of Steam, they are all scams.

Seriously stop defending the idea that your account isn't compromised, because yes, we all see this daily.

Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Change your password on a secure device.

Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
** If there is nothing in the API key area, that’s fine. If there IS something, remove it. Nothing should be there.**

No items that have been traded away during this time will be returned to you.

Change your Email’s password on your computer for safety
