Blocked user can still reply to my discussion?
Hi, there's this person who is harassing me, and derails my attempts to ask a simple question, and for some reason can still reply to my discussions despite me blocking all communication with them? How is that possible? How can I make him stop being able to do that, so that people would be able to actually focus on the question and not their nonesense?

When blocked, their forum posts will be hidden. But yes, they can still reply to your thread. This is a public forum, open to everyone, and you do not have the ability to prevent others from posting.

Just like Matt said, there nothing you can do but making their post hidden on the forum.

Just so I'm clear - I have no problem with them posting their own posts. My issue is with them being able to reply to my threads, and thus derailing them.

You can't go and block people like that. You can only stick your fingers in your ears and sing "la la la", figuratively. You don't own threads to let in or keep out people as you please.

Thanks for the respectful reply.
As I wrote, I am talking here about threads that I started, and I do not the people who harass me to derail. In most social media, once I block someone, they cannot see my posts, and thus cannot derail them.

Your thread is on a public forum. This is not Twitter etc.

Everyone in good standing can post including users YOU block. You blocking does not remove their right to post on these forums, on threads you create nor on threads you join.

Do I need to repeat myself that I was not talking about them being able to post their own discussions / reply to other discussions, but specifically about their ability to harass me and derail my discussions?
Matt Oct 31, 2021 @ 12:47am
Anyone can post on your threads, including people that you blocked. That's how it works. We understand what you're saying, so there's no need to keep repeating as if we don't get it.
Cathulhu Oct 31, 2021 @ 12:49am
No, why repeat something that was already obvious.
You can not lock someone out from your own threads.
If you see posts that violate the rules, report them and let the mods handle it.

If you don't like public spaces, don't use them.
See it like this, you can't go to a marketplace of your choice, go to a single person and demand them to leave your sight and never come back, right?
Not your place, not your decision.
Same with a public forum.
They have as much a right to use it as you do.

Most people who claim harassment on here want to silence others while at the same time being able to say whatever they want because "free speech" (which doesn't exist on a private company's forum).

Someone disagreeing with you is not harassment. It is a differing opinion.

You did after all create a bait thread on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition forum.

And have argued with others on the Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous forum not agreeing with you.

Again - Everyone in good standing can post including users YOU block. You blocking does not remove their right to post on these forums, on threads you create nor on threads you join.

You do not own the thread you create, it is on a public forum and this is not Twitter etc.
Cathulhu Oct 31, 2021 @ 12:54am
Even if, it would be rather cynical to demand free speech and in the same time, demand that others can't have it.

No, I can't tell them to leace my sight and never come back, but I can tell them to leave my stand if I see that they harass me and don't let me sell my goods. I never said they don't have a right to use the forum - they can do whatever the hell they want, as long as they don't harass me and derail my discussions.

They aren't your discussions they are discussions you started but they don't belong to you and you have no more say or control over what can be said in them or by who than any other user does.
