Front jack mic not working only in steam

Hello, today I played a game of CS:GO, I have my headphone and mic cables plugged in to the front 3.5mm jacks, everything was working fine. Then, when I played another game in the evening, my mic jusy wasn't working. After the game I tried to troubleshoot it, reinstall drivers and everything but it didn't work. The mic works in other softwares (the default voice recorder app works fine, the playback devices tab shows that it's working and everything) but not only in steam. I tried plugging in the cables to the backside directly to the motherboard, it worked just fine but the volume is a bit low (have to use mic boost +10dB). I want it to work from the front audio jacks as they are not broken or anything, it's just an issue with steam. Anyone have any ideas why it may be behaving so erratically?

Check your microphone privacy settings in Windows 10.

If it suddenly mutes playback while sound is being picked up by the microphone, set the Communications tab setting to "Do Nothing".

It's already set to do nothing.. I can't fogure out the problem... It's so frustrating

Ok so I fixed it, apparently, my mic audio wasn't balanced in the left and right ear, when I clicked on 'listen to this device' in the properties of the mic, I could only hear myself on the right ear

This post made me realise that^. The guy's solution of "voicemeter" worked for me but I wanted to know the root cause of the problem. So, I tried another headset and got the same results. I knew the problem was somewhere with the jack. I opened my PC case, unplugged the cable labelled 'HD AUDIO' and re-inserted it back again and Voila! it worked.
I built this PC myself 2 months back so I that helped me troubleshoot the problem.

for me my mic works, but the sound from in-game wont go to my headphones... its only steam that the problem occurs.... youtube, roblox, minecraft *#$% you name it, they work but its only steam and games from steam that dont work and my headphones are plugged in the front and stuff, reply back for more info
