Switch Pro Gamepad with digital trigger no longer working after latest Steam Client update
Latest Steam client update broke support for gamepads with digital triggers like Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and Horipad Switch Pro Controller. How do I change things back? It was working perfectly before. From their release notes : "Fix an issue with Generic Gamepads that have digital triggers where the trigger could get stuck on" <---- this actually broke it. Now the left and right digital triggers do not work anymore. Please help!

Having the same issue here. My triggers are not working properly anymore. The inputs fails most of the time and only on steam. I was testing it out in every game I have and it happens the same problem: when I press the trigger sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for letting me know. I reported this to Steam Support. They finally acknowledged the issue after some back and forth. The more people report this the faster they will fix it I believe.

Some third party controllers may have multiple trigger modes. If possible, disable any "analog" trigger option on your controller as a workaround.

Yes turning off left and right trigger analog mode in Steam config worked. However, I wasn't using Steam config (Horipad worked perfectly without Switch support being turned) before so I have to do this for all my games now. Using Steam config I have to adjust deadzones for the joysticks and sensitivity whereas before it just worked. Oh well. Thanks for the update

How can I do it?

You have to turn On Nintendo switch controller support in the main controller config in Big Picture Mode settings . Then for EACH game, go to controller configuration and configure the controller left and right triggers to "off" and not analog. Default setting off "analog" for the left and right triggers is why it doesn't work. Hope that helps. The Horipad switch controller now works good again.
