Steam remote storage
Steam allows us to view/download data saved in the clouds by the games in here
https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
but it also saves the multimedia data we share via chat as well, i could see the clips and pics i shared with my friend a month ago in there. so does it mean it counts towards our 20GB storage limit?
If im right that 20GB is supposed to be used only by the Steam cloud game saves and screenshots/artworks we upload to the Steam community. but this way if a user uses Steam chat a lot to share pics and videos with their friends then they will unknowingly fill up their space?

Your shareconfig.vdf is always synced to Steam Cloud.

The sharedconfig files has information about settings, categories and other settings accessible in the Steam Client.

This file is just a few KB's.

Chat history is deleted after 2 weeks in account data pages.

This doesn't sync to Steam Cloud AFAIK.

I'm afraid that Not true.

there in the link i posted i can see the video and images from August, i only shared them to my friend in Steam chat, but i can see them again right now so they're stored there.

You've gotten those images from where exactly?

For the Steam Client tab there are just two VDF files.

1) https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage

2) There's a list; one of them is "Steam Client".

3) You open that and there are two VDF files.

I see nothing pertaining to the chat there.

you see nothing because it shows you your stuff when you access that link with your account logged in, you can't see my stuff without logging in with my account first.

now let someone else with information answer to this.

I am logged in and these pages should be accessible to all users; not referring to your account information.

Can you take a screenshot of it, showing WHERE you're getting chat images?

if it's empty that means you haven't shared any multimedia files via chat.

If its true that steam stores images /videos/ files shared in chat in cloud then thats a huge failure on their part. If not then aight.

now question is will they count towards our storage quota? i can easily reach 20gb in just a year, with Steam updating their android app maybe even faster, also there is no button to delete them.

Specifically it means you haven't uploaded files via chat to the cloud and shared them.

Links to something like imgur pictures don't count for that page.
