[PERMANENT FIX SOLUTION] Constantly High CPU Thread Usage from steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection+0xf58f0
Howdy,

Recently I have been having an issue with the Steam Client having a constantly high CPU thread usage from steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection+0xf58f0. This started I believe after updating Windows 10 to 1903.

I found the issue through the Resource Monitor analyzing the wait chain and then I went into Process Hacker 2 and checked the property of Steam which showed that steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection+0xf58f0 is the problem. This issue also appears with games that have In-Game Steam Overlay enabled. If I open CSGO then a second steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection+0xf58f0 I/O becomes active in the CSGO properties through Process Hacker 2 which adds on to the Steam Client's steamclient.dll!Steam_TerminateGameConnection+0xf58f0 I/O causing an additive increase of CPU usage.

I have tried many solutions like trying to repair the client through CMD prompt, deleting everything in the Steam folder except Steam, Userdata, and SteamApps, changing priority of the process to low, and even opting into the beta client to see if that helped but nothing worked. The only temporary solution that works is terminating or suspending the I/O. I have to do this every time I launch Steam and when I start games that have In-Game Steam Overlay enabled. There isn't much info about this online and the threads that talk about this issue is like less than 10 with no permanent fixes. In the most recent thread, mikela, a Valve Employee I believe, said it was fixed in the public and beta versions but not for me.

Anyone else having this issue and if you have found a permanent fix? I'm afraid of terminating this I/O every time I launch a game since I don't know if it's important or what it's actual purpose is. It also never goes away on it's own even if I leave Steam running for a few days straight. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Solution was a recent Windows 10 update - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4505903/windows-10-update-kb4505903

-edited in mikela
-edited in image links
-edited title and added link to Windows 10 update that fixed it

LOL i had a problem like yours
After updated to 1903, Steam use 25% of my CPU even it doesn't downloading
gameoverlayui also use 15% of my CPU
but in 1809, Steam use 0-5% of CPU and gameoverlayui use 0%

That's what I'm confused about @国家5A边缘人 . What caused Steam to use that much CPU after the update but before there wasn't an issue on 1809? :steamsad:

It's a WINDOWS 10 problem.

You're right about that @Zekiran . Windows recently released an update and actually fixed the problem. I'll edit my original post with the link to which update that fixed it.
