Witcher 3 downloaded, then restarted the download.
So I just got done downloading the Witcher 3, and right as it finished it started redownloading it again. Although I have the witcher 3 folder in my "Steamapps/common" folder, with all the data inside of it. "50GBS"

So I'm really at a loss of what to do here..

Could be an update and you'll find that it is just replacing older files. that happens just like Kingdom Come Deliverance it was 25 gig then went to 59 gig.
47.4 gig is the size of my Witcher 3 Wild hunt folder.
What is also added ARTBOOK 502 megs and ARTWORK
SoundTracks is 699 megs
I also bought the DLC Hearts of Stone that adds to it.
Wait until its done ok.

Sadly my internet is horridly slow, 10KBPS. Do I really have to wait for it to go through the entire download again, even though all the files are already present in the directory?

You can pause the download then when you go to bed resume it and leave on.
Why is your internet so slow?
Delete Steam downloads cache may help
Disable Display download rates in bits per sec, untick it

I live out in the middle of nowhere, use a hotspot off my phone. Lol Is what it is.

If I've got to redownload it all then so be it, just seems rather odd that all the files are there and it's redownloading everything it already has.

Alright let me try that real quick.

Well hotpots would not be reliable for speed I dare say.
Ace Knight Jul 28, 2019 @ 8:22pm
Yeah you can say that. Lol
I tried both clearing the steam cache, and unticking Display download rates in bits per sec. Nothing. In the download cache was the game fully downloaded though which is weird.

Restart steam, may fix it.
exit it dont just close it.
As your using a device I don't know where you could look but on a desktop near the clock is the steam boot launcher right click that and exit.

Just restarted it and nothing's any different. https://imgur.com/a/7ssCfWm

Everything is present, it's just not registering that the files are actually there. I think if I had to guess what the issue was, maybe along the end of the download a file got corrupted and broke everything.

Here's some steps you can take that hopefully will fix this issue.

Edit
Did you get a DLC for it untick that

Already tried doing all of that sadly, it goes through the process of recognizing existing files that are there then proceeds to start the download over again. Also tried the second method too but no luck.

I'll untick the DLC's then try that. (Nope, nothing)

Pause the download, untick DLC then rightclick Witcher 3 in the library properties>open the local files tab verify game files.
leave the download paused. see if it sorts that out once you have exited Steam.
Ace Knight Jul 28, 2019 @ 8:46pm
Validated the files instantly and it still wants me to download the entire thing over again. (only now with a smaller download. Lol)
Jaunitta 🌸 Jul 28, 2019 @ 8:50pm
lol, that's nuts. Maybe the slow download speed is causing cache issues.
I sourced this on Steam its all I can of think of now sorry, its my favourite game so I feel your paIn

Yeah it is a bit nuts but I'm not sure what the issue could be at this point, I think that something must have gone wrong with the download. Even though it's fully downloaded, sitting there taunting me, I think a file in it got corrupted and won't register. Lol

Yeah I love the Witcher 3 to death but oh well, luckily I have patience to download it again. Thanks for your help! ^^
