you even sure that laptop has Nvidia as primary selected card in Nvidia controll panel.
if this is Intel HD , that will explan alot.

all i can tell it look like user own faulth, if graphics is on lowest, yes i know its sounds hard or rough at you, but if you can get it , that most game should run alot better then lowest setting,

besure as you said powercord is on, and wall plug is turn on, i have even seen lapto supply with no green light indicator that its on. ( this will be seen as battry mode and then your game will suffer from it in performance, im sure its not that in your case, but many laptop owner has learn this and we dont mentions this. looks like we are stupid then its more a mistake and can happend to all.
so dont tke this the wrong way , i have drive in a company car 50km just to turn on hardware because end customer did not know. im sure you cant beat that mistake. and know no matter what mistake you did will be nothing compare to that.
