SteamVR automatically downloaded without my knowing
Couple days ago, I opened steam during the regular update time I have. I see SteamVR auto updating around 600mbs in as If I already installed it.

I do not have any VR games or software/hardware downloaded on my current PC, I have not ever downloaded SteamVR.

I did not misclick download for I would have had to misclick 3 times to download from store. Or at least twice if it were magically added in my library.

Steam support couldn't help me with this issue.

Seen a couple other posts about this happening but no answers.

I already contacted support and they told me to post here...

>Steam support couldn't help me with this issue.

They literally did, they said they cannot help me with this issue and posted links including here, and the subreddit. I can literally post the ticket...

if you are gonna argue about the most mundane thing instead of helping me here:

>Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. I am sorry, but I do not have a fix for you at this time.

Along with reports submitted directly to Support, the Steam team uses a number of community sources to help investigate the frequency and severity of issues like this. These issues are continually being addressed through Steam Updates. Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.

I would encourage you to search for the issue and post about it in one of the more active Steam community hubs, as other users may be experiencing the same thing.

Again, I am sorry that we do not have a fix for you at this time.

Steam Support

now you can go on your merry way.

Yeah, they tell you to look for users who may have experienced the same thing, not asking for support here.
Anyway, I have in fact experienced this very thing with a game I TRIED to play a while ago. Said game was/is broken, it insisted on running SteamVR (despite being played in pancake mode). I ended up uninstalling it & never look back.
So I suggest you check whether this is related to a specific game.

As someone who owned a VR headset for a while, some games that have optional VR modes sometimes download Steam VR as part of their first time installation, even if you just play them in "flat" screen mode.

like reboot said, see if any of your games hane a vr option.

I have googled every time I found a thread about this issue, no one offers a solution for it.

Was the game installed or not when it caused this for you? My current installed library has nothing for VR support.
