windows 10 power plan settings auto changes CLOSE
i am looking for some help on finding what settings with steam that i need to changes to prevent my power plan settings from changing on it's own.

allow me to explain. currently my power plan settings is set to (turn off the display = never) (put computer to sleep = never) now when ever i run any steam games in full screen my power plan for my display gets changed to 15 mins and after i quit the game it gets set back to never.

i have already contacted Microsoft tech support for help on this and the tech has found out that it is not my video driver or my PC that is changing my power plan on it's own it is some settings in steam that is making the change when ever i load any full-screen games and suggested i contact steam for help with this.

i looked in steam support for help however i am unable to tell what to make the ticket under so i decided to come here and ask for help

What is the plan called it switches too?
Only games ran through steam? What if you run their exe to start?

Some ssd setting programms could change the power plan.
Microsoft tech checked everything and we also checked none steam games and none of them changes the power plan settings
Then contact steam support. Tell them games to test that, and settings that are made on your side in steam, and in energy plans.

But one thing, if it changes the plan, check while a game is running what plan is active, and if that changed plan aslo shuts monitor off if game is in background
that is why i am here as i don't know what ticket to make the report under.
Make a good headline and describe all they need to know to reproduce.
If you dont find a way to write to them, choose the community one, that leads to a "contact support"

Only Laptop can do that, Microsoft should not even bother with it, or maybe say this, if you are a Laptop owner , read the crappy manual.

but sense you lack system spec or told what pc that is, then post like this is allowed.

ps.
take the problem to pc Brand support, its not even a steam issue.
and i can tell you not even a microsoft problem.

are you sure you're not confusing your plugged-in power plan with your battery power plan
my desktop doesn't have a battery. and i am very knowable about pc

yes I have this issue too, I set my power plan maximum cpu performance to 99%, but steam will automatically change it to 100% everytime I open a game through steam, but if I directly start the game from its .exe file, the power plan won't be affected

'Your' power plan may not be the power plan that is activated when Steam becomes active.
Windows has some settings to provide the optimal gaming experience, which iirc force the selected power plan to be the 'best performance' power plan while applications known to be associated with gaming, are active.

And while some individual games might not be known; Steam as a platform definitely would be.

To you and the OP:
Try disabling the settings in Windows to optimize for gaming and see if that fixes it.
(Yes; part of the 'best performance' plan's default settings may still be to disable the monitor after 15m. That's iirc a default to all the power plans. Except the power-saver plan will probably cut it even shorter.)
