people from discord/skype can hear me, but no one from steam can hear me in-game

i tried everything, i've been searching it for days, i can talk with my friends on discord and skype, but when im playing GMOD or any other game from steam, its just low, nobody cant hear me. when i go to settings>voice and i attempt to test my microphone, i just cant hear myself, only if i actually get really close to my mic and like scream, i can only hear a few noises even from doing that. i tested increasing the mic volume to +30db and it still doesnt work.
is there anything that can help me fix this? (also sorry for my bad grammar, english isn't my main language)
