Steam Overlay With Battlefield 1?
Hey! Is there a way to get the steam overlay to work with Battlefield 1. I think I had it working when BF1 was in the Beta but now it just doesn't seem to want to cooperate, any ideas?

Worked fine for me when I just disabled Origin's in-game overlay from its settings, turned off Origin (so it didn't show up in the bottom right corner), added bf1.exe as a non-Steam -game and launched it through Steam.

It worked! Wasn't really sure what you ment by turned off Origin. I assumed it ment you just literally turned it off. Exited it so it isn't running. This worked perfectly. Thank you.

Thank you for your tip! But are you able to get 1920x1080@60fps? I'm only getting 29.99fps :( AMD R9 290x by the way.

I was getting somewhere along the lines of 70-90 FPS average.

I do remember getting stuck with 30 FPS every few boots when I tried playing Unravel with Steam's overlay though. Luckily usually rebooting the game fixed it.

Add bf1.exe instead of Origin.exe ?

I think I have tried what they suggest. Down on the lower left hand corner you click "Add a Game..."->"Add a non steam game". A list will come up that includes a battlefield 1. Click the check box next to it and "Add Selected Programs". Then Library and find Battlefield 1. Right click on it and goto properties. The path should point to "Bf1.exe". It MAY point to "Bf1 Trial.exe" instead. You will need to change this path if you buy the game.

I am assuming that by "Disabled Origin" they mean goto Origin, click on "Origin" in the Menu Bar, and "Application Settings". Then "Origin In Game" (Which is up top), and click "Enable Origin In Game" too Off. If its unable to be switched you need to leave the game your in.

Now I can get my steam status too show "In non-Steam game Battlefield 1", but sadly I have not seen the overlay work. I will keep trying it though, maybe it works when in the game and not in the menus.

I did that and then I went to Origin, Disabled the Origin In Game. Also I disabled Origin on PC Start. Then I went down to the task bar and the up arrow right clicked origin and clicked Quit Origin. I went into Steam and ran Battlefield 1. If I remember correctly it should take time and start Origin and then start battlefield. The Overlay worked perfectly. When you go to exit, you close BF1, Sadly in the new Origin update they disabled Auto Close origin on game close. So you have to then go back to the task bar and quit origin. This will tell steam to stop thinking your in battlefield. I know thats a bit confusing but it works. Make sure your Origin is off when you start BF1 THROUGH steam!

Well turns out this method no longer works for me.. It worked perfectly for multiple play sessions in one day but now it just doesn't give the overlay with BF1. not sure what happend.

I disabled the origin in-game overlay, I closed origin and then added the bf1.exe as a non steam game, but when I try to launch, it opens origin first and then the game itself so steam recognises the origin platform as "the game" and the overlay does not appear on the game itself, only on the origin app... Is there a way to make the overlay appear in-game and not on the origin platform?

At this point I don't know. Mine did the same thing but worked in game too.. But now it just doesn't work at all.

You have to disable the origin overlay in origin, then add both bf1 and the origin exe. After that start the game and it'll boot up, you have to add both the game and the origin exe on any origin game that you want to work in steam. You can also select the option to close origin upon exiting a game so it doesn't pop up when you log off.

I don't know exactly what you want me to clarify. I mean you add both the origin exe and bf1 from the "add non steam game" option under games then start the game from the bf1 shortcut. That's it after disabling the origin overlay.
