Strange internet issues, really confused with whats going on
I've recently bough a prebuilt PC (mainly due to parts availabilty) after wanting to get back into PC gaming for years but im having some issues with my wireless connectivity. They're pretty weird and i cant get my head around them.

Basically my internet if perfect, i can surf no issues, i can download from steam. I can even play certain games online like Hell Let Loose (played it for many hours no issues). But other games disconnect me from the internet. Like ARMA3 for example. I play it for not even a minute and my PC is disconnecting. I first noticed when my Discord would go nuts when i was playing Shogun 2...again another game that just turns off the internet. Same with Empire Total War.

I thought it was an issue maybe with inactivity but i realise now its pretty much steam. So how the hell can i play Hell Let Loose for hours with no hiccups? It makes no sense.

I have made sure my firewall is not blocking anything, i have adjusted energy saving to make sure its not turning off the wireless adaptor, i have rolled back my wireless driver and checked for an update. It says its the latest version. I have restarted my router. I have even resinstalled Steam. I tried turning my antivirus off to check if that made a difference...nope. Ive done some CMDs to reset DNS stuff that i saw from google again no.

I can watch a HD move on Youtube, start up ARMA3 and within 60 secs my computer will say no internet.

I tab back out and the internet comes back? Whats going on? Its kind of wrecking this whole thing for me.

Ethernet is not an option and many other devises are working perfect on the same network.

Any help REALLY appreciated.

"Device manager > Network Cards > YOUR SPECIFIC CARD MODEL > Properties > Power management > uncheck box (If checked) marked "Allow the computer to turn off this device""

That should prevent any program to disconnect your wireless adapter for ANY reason.
If the problem still occurs its at least not related to that.

Yeah ive already done that, its under Network Adaptors.

My guess is it's because of location. There isn't just one big "internet" where everything online comes from. Servers are in different locations all over the world therefore our connections to them aren't all the same to every game we connect to. It might also be your internet quality. Wi-Fi, especially, is subject to interference. It could be interference.

Try wiring up directly to your router and turning wi-fi off on your computer and see if it still happens.

It could also be an anti-virus program or some other form of security denying those games from using the internet.

Yeah , dont feel bad its know as Poisen revesed, idea is network protect itself and you get network back after 3minute.

and yes Offcial its know as user end that cause this , well either way talk with ISP, but do check with cable , and update router or bypass router if even can that, just because its seen as users own problem , in rare casses, its a combination with you and ISP, i will not go into detail but i dont know isp side of this , so why bother with things you are not in controll off.
just tell them what i said and ask do he know the term here, before he do as me and almost 100% sure its your end. i did not say its not your end, its more a problem to proof this.

get a friend laptop you know work at hes place , and try confirm same result you have , or bypass own router if possible and do tell ISP you did this. because either you got proof or you found a issue in own network.

ps.
if you are not educated in this or read about it, you will not know the term.
so your problem is do support at isp even know it, or just a first level support that dont know.
dont be rude , but be firm and get a technician on the case if they brush you off, and its here you have done the friend laptop that proof it.( this is not about nail ISP , this is hardcord network technicaic you need that know better. )

ohh jack point out something all things matter here , you safe mode or interference to cable and router , all this is still your end, not a isp problem. ( thats the idea with get another pc at location to rule out own isp.)

Sounds like a cheap/crappy wifi adapter crapping out when it has to handle several multiple simultaneous connections.
Have you tried connecting your PC with an ethernet cable to see if it still happens? If using a cable based connection works, then you most likely need some proper wi-fi adapter, or a solution to use a cable based connection permanently. I'd recommend the latter anyway.

Ok update, just tried to launch Hell Let Loose and the internet crapped out. Reconnected relaunched and got into a game. No internet lose for hours of gaming.

Once im in a game its perfect.

Im thinking its the Wireless adaptor like Cathulhu said. It turns priorities down if it cant hack it. If its in a game it keeps working perfectly.

Sounds like DSL to me.
Test your internet speed on several devices before blaming the computer.

Cheap doesn't mean junk. Sometimes the only thing we pay more for is a name (brand).

It could be your internet connection or router that's crapping out.
It could also be your wi-fi signal strength.

Giving a specific connection priority doesn't exist if it wasn't manually set up by someone.

Have you checked your internet speed and quality on several devices, is it the same?
How is your wi-fi signal / Have you tried wiring up directly to the modem or router?

Just ran a speed test. 140mps which is typical from other tests and other devises.

Signal strength always shows max bars.

A friend on discord had me run a ping test through command prompt for packet loses. It came back no loses.

It was wondering if it was worth opening ports?

Its been perfect all night since this post? Its weird. Did i fix it? Or is it temperamental? Guess ill find out tomorrow...

Have you checked your anti-virus program and insured it wasn't scanning or interrupting the game at all?

Did you test your connection several times or just once? If it's bugging out one test isn't going to show that.

What server did you ping? That matters. If you didn't ping the game servers it's happening on you didn't test where the problem is. If you didn't test where the problem is that's not really test of anything. A ping test is quite useless to do, too, if the game or a server list shows your ping or latency (ping / latency = same thing).

Do you know the IP address and port of the server? Some of them aren't easy to get.

It probably isn't anything to do with ports.
