Help! Unable to add friend. "Error adding Friend. Communication between you and this user has been blocked"..

I'm trying to add a friend that I know personally, but Steam keeps saying that communication between us is blocked. He too tried to add me but he is unable to.

I checked my blocked list of ppl (just to be sure), but he's not there, the only ones that I've blocked are players from CSGO.

I tried sending invites to other ppl just to be sure, but the problem persists only with my friend.

Is there anyway to fix this?

I don't think so. Because we never played before nor I actually knew how his nickname was on Steam. I told him (he's currently working) to check his steam blocked list if in any case he blocked me by accident, but he himself first tried to add me and couldn't, because he doesn't know what the problem is.

I just told him to do that, but the actual thing is, we never played before on Steam, so we never knew each other in the first place to block one another. If this is not the problem, could it be a Steam bug?

The error message is straight-forward, they have you blocked, it won't be for any other reason.

In all the years of using Steam and these forums, i've never seen any "bug" like this.

He checked, and said that I wasn't blocked, both of us don't know what's the problem.

Unless there's a way to look into both of our accounts from Steam Support? To check what's the problem?

oh I just have the same problem... It seems I blocked a friend long time ago and now I can't add him as friend. Damn... :'(

Unblock them.

omg these people here are so *^&^%, he mentioned that both of the accounts haven't blocked each other. I have 2 steam accounts and same thing happnend to me. Can't add because somehow communication has been blocked while clearly the accounts aren't on the blocklist. Some people really can't read....
