My Steam gift card is invalid for some reason??

So I recently bought a gift card from Game mania in the Netherlands for 20 Euros and everytime i tried to redeem it it wouldn't go through and I have asked both Steam support and the store I bought it in.

Steam said this: "The code isn't properly activated"

but the store said:"The code was activated on the cashier what do you mean?"

and im so confused if its Steam's end right now
I have went through and searched some topics about this and suggested waiting for 24 hours
but that didn't really seem to help they wont even give me a new code that IS working which leaves my 20 Euros scammed out of my pocket. Any suggestions?

If it hasn't worked after 24 hours and you are 100% sure you're typing it correctly.

Try for a refund it at the store (doubtful because they can't check if it has been used or not so generally wont refund it.)
If that doesnt work just don't buy steam gift cards from said store again.

Well my friend who's in the same country and bought it from the same store and it did work for them and im really confused why its not working for me and im 100% sure I have did it correctly

Make SURE that you're reading the letters and numbers correctly. A lot of times, they are very difficult to determine.

There was just only one letter/number that i could change to an O or a 0 and that really didn't work for me

It could be a time thing or the store somehow made a mistake activating the card. Just take it back, explain the situation and have them replace it with a new card.

You can obviously contact support to verify where the potential snag could be.

Well I replied to Steam support again and im about to head out to the store later soon so hopefully this gets further discussed about Steam gift card activation problems from stores outside the U.S

Did the store provide you with a receipt confirming activation on their point of sale? Retailers usually provide two - one for the money they tendered and the other confirming the card activation. Both details may be on the same receipt but this is something you should've received.

No I did not get the receipt for some reason

Oh wait no they did sent the reciept in the email though the code wasn't there

That "some reason" may be related to your problem. Maybe they really forgot to activate the card and that's why there's no receipt. Either way, there has to be a receipt.

Just got an email from the store that I can get a new one for free which is great news :D
