Why is Steam capping my DL to 11.8 Mb/s
Hey! I'm From Montreal, my internet is over 60 mb/s with the speedtest, if i download on origin, or any other client, i DL at 50mb/s and beyond.

My SSD is 3400 Mo/s.

I have uncapped the limit on the settings, tried to download in servers from Iceland, where there is less people, and its still the same.

on my task runner, it says steam uses 93 mbits/s

P.S: My windows, as well as the steam client, is installed on my other SSD, witch is significantly less good, but i always DL games on my 3400 Mo/s SSD.

Do someone have an idea?

Go to Steam->Settings->Downloads . You can set your limits there.

Seems strange, i get my full 250 mb/s on Steam nearly all the time.
Usually switching download region can fix it when its running slow but if you already tried that...

Also, are you not confusing MegaBYTE with MegaBIT?
Speedtest and similar sites show speed in MegaBIT. Steam shows downloads in MegaBYTE.
8 MegaBIT = 1 MegaBYTE

If your taskmanager says Steam is using 93 mbit, that is corrent, that is pretty much exactly 11.8 MegaByte.

Ogami already explained but as that appears to have been missed I'll repeat it.

Reads like you're mixing up your
mb = megabit
MB = MegaBYTE

8 bits per byte. Steam displays in MB/MegaBYTE where as ISP and speedtest sites use mb/megabits.

Can check for yourself here so no Math needed.

93mb = 11.xx MB so the speed you are getting is correct. It's just being displayed using different units causing you to mix them up

You can also set Steam to display speeds in Mb/s. I did that as the rest of the world(tm) uses that unit.

Was there a solution to this? You all lost the point of the questions. I have the same- trying to download hades- and 11.8 mbps. Speed test 64mbps. Why is steam maxed? 2 years later!!

Speedtest uses Megabit, Steam uses Megabyte

8 Bit = 1 Byte

11.8 Megabyte per second are a 94.4 Megabit. So, a rather normal value for someone with a 100 Megabit connection.

I have 300mbps Internet and have downloaded from steam at 20+ mb/s but now it's hard capped at 11.8 no more no less. Idk what changed but that looks like a download limit not my Internet or steam being slow. Please help

If you still have issue, is better create your own thread.

Downloading at 80mb/s here, which is my full available bandwidth. It's not a Steam issue.
