The right way to play Doom from first to last game (id software releases only)
So I'm about to start my adventure with Doom and can someone help me with order how I should play them? Is the right order like this : Doom / Doom 2 / Doom 3 / Doom 3 DLC / Doom 3 BFG Edition / Doom 2016 / Doom Ethernal / Doom Ethernal DLC? Thanks in advance

They aren't connected plot-wise in any substantial way (except Doom 1/2 and '16/Eternal), so you can play them in basically whatever order you wish. You can play them in the order they got released, you can start with the two latest games and then work your way back. Either way works.
Don't forget Doom 64, by the way! It's a fantastic entry and does stuff similar to Doom 3, namely going easier on hardcore action, with more emphasis on atmosphere.

That said, there's SOME plot connection between 2, 64 and '16 so if you care about that, play 1, then 2, then 64, then '16 and then Eternal (with Doom 3 & it's addons sitting side-by-side with all of that). But on the other hand, that's Doom we're talking about so ♥♥♥♥ plot. Just play Doom '16, then Eternal, then see how much you love the franchise and if you do, get on with the older titles.

There's no point in playing Doom 3 and Doom 3 BFG separately either. I mean, yeah, sure, if you REALLY love everything Doom and can't absolutely get enough of it, you can, but otherwise, just play Doom 3 BFG with the 2 included addons.

Thats the release order ,yes. Btw you dont really need to play Doom 3 AND Doom 3 BFG Edition.
The later is just a slight remaster, the content is the same. Play one or the other.

Also most games have no direct correlation to each other. Doom 1+2 do, Doom 3 is a reboot and so is Doom 2016. Doom Eternal is a sequel to Doom 2016.

One thing to note about BFG is that it includes 1 and 2 in it, so you technically don't have to get the originals.

But yes, don't forget 64, it is quite good.

Oh also, 1-3 play somewhat differently than '16 and Eternal. So keep that in mind.

Don't forget to play HDoom.

> Doom 1 and Doom 2 are linked.

> Doom 64 not sure if it a sequel to Doom 2, or a spin off.

> Doom 3 is a reboot of Doom.

> Doom 2016 is a reboot, and it sequel is Doom eternal both are linked.

So pick either one you like to start on. If you want to go classic then work your way to modem Doom, sure play them in that order if you want.
