Follow a game, but disable event notifications?

Is it possible to keep Following a game (for news) while disabling Event notifications?

I hate those popups that you need to close, and not a single time have I ever cared about an event.

I understand I can stop getting them by unfollowing a game (which is what I do now whenever I see a game has events), but I'd like to be able to keep following games to get news notifications (which, unlike events, don't need to be clicked away).

That setting is in the friends list settings.

Click on "Friends and Chat" in the bottom right corner.

Click the cog icon to enter into the settings.

Go to Notifications and turn off the last one.

I didn't think to look there, only the site settings.

Do "announcements" not include news, though?

I still want to see pop-up notifications for news posts.

I'm not sure exactly. A long time. Years?

When I get event notifications, I get a pop-up that hangs around, and I can either choose to view it, or close the notification.
