Validating steam game
Just wanted to ask. I decided to validate a steam game due to some issues to see if they could be fixed. I didn't realize that steam recommends restarting the computer first before validating the game files which I did not do. Will this cause any issues?

Not really. Validating the files makes Steam check if some are missing or corrupt and redownload those.
I never restarted my PC or Steam for that. Still worked in many cases.

You can always restart your computer and validate your game files again. Steam probably recommends a reboot so as to close any game processes that are unknowingly left running and locked after a crash-to-desktop for example. Though such instances are rare, I imagine that Steam would be unable to repair files that were "in use by another program."

Why... won't you restart your computer?

Letting is continue to run is going to be part and parcel to "getting increasingly worse problems" not just with Steam games but with your entire computer.

Validate the game, restart Steam. Close your computer down properly when you are not using it. It's not... it's not even in question that you should do this anyway.

No. Restarting before and after doing anything with a computer has been a common thing for computers since computers and tech support for them arrived. The reason for it was 30 years ago and earlier RAM (Random Access Memory) wasn't as advanced. It had a trend of not updating with new data if it was full and it didn't have much space at all compared to today so it got full quickly. Restarting was an easy way to advise someone on how to clear their RAM from the 1980s through to maybe 1992 or so. Not necessary to do in 2021.

There are times changes made require a restart to take effect but not for validating game files.
