New dangerous thing in the forums (Direct Download Virus)

i just stumbled over this comment:

cause i know it's probably something shady, i opened it with my laptop (there's nothing on it except a browser and kaspersky internet security.)

as soon as you click this weird link, you're automatically downloading 2 virus files of the type not-a-virus:HEUR:AdWare.Script.Pusher.gen.

Since it seems that windows defender doesn't notice it yet, it's probably good to think twice before clicking anything that looks uncommon to you!


IF you clicked it, download malwarebytes anti malware, or adwcleaner, or something similar to get rid of it!

Report profiles which spread scam items, and don't deal with them further. The forums are filled with many things, but dangerous links are taken care of if you report things quickly.

curiosity! with my laptop it doesn't matter, and i wanna know if it's just random youtube spam, or something worse.

Whenever people click on a link, their Steam client will already warn them, if they are leaving Steam. I suppose warning them twice can't hurt.

There have been various threads with such links in the past weeks. Most already were added to the linkfilter, but that one apparently wasn't yet.

As always, there is no reason to click an external link when it's about CS:GO, TF2 or DOTA2 (which these posts usually are referring to).
