Hi, how can I connect my ps3 controller to big picture? It's detecting the controller but I can't use it.

Steam does not natively support PS3 controllers.

Disconnect the controller.

Next disable all Steam controller input detection (untick all the boxes) in Big Picture or via Steam > Settings > General Controller Settings

Exit Steam.

Download SCPToolkit from here:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/scptoolkit.mirror/

Connect the controller.

Install SCPToolkit with administrator rights.

Follow the prompts during install then boot Steam and test.

Is it really safe? I read some threads saying it contains malware :steamsad:

If you download from the site I linked - NO but download from other sites, unlnown.

Used it for years before switching to a PS4 controller. Never had a malware infection on my PC when using it.

It does and has for quite a while. You just get the drivers by installing PlayStation Now.

My point was that Steam does NOT NATIVELY support a PS3 controller it needs external drivers hence SCPToolkit and you confirmed this with needing a driver from PlayStation Now which I was unaware of I have no need for PlayStation Now.

Rather use drivers straight from Sony than some third party, but to each their own.

The configurator is very much native though.

The official USB drivers for the PS3 gamepad from Sony are only supported on 32 bits OSes. If your OS is 64 bits, forget it.

It is configurable after installing external drivers but not before hence no native support.

Source?

Because I'm positive I used it on a 64-bit OS. Haven't had a 32-bit in ages.

Guess I've to try it on a VM later again, since I primarily use DS4 and Xbox One pad nowadays.
