Your Steam account: Access from new computer

I get this email about 10x a day. I have 2fa but it's getting really annoying.

I changed my password a million times, double checked that my pc has no virus, created a very long and complicated password with numbers and symbols, set my account to private etc.

And even if my pc has a very hidden keylogger I also try changing my password through my iPhone and other computers, and without logging again in my home computer I get another email that someone with my password tried to log in to my steam.

Maybe this is that some major security flaw with steam? maybe a linked service that gets my password when I change, or someone in family sharing has a virus in their pc that's getting my new password? (when I change my password my brother that's on family sharing doesn't have to retype my password to play my games so maybe? idk)

Please help. Anyone with the same problem got it fixed?

Better check PCs for viruses, search if the PCs arent acting weird, if it dont have installed something, what sites you were at, and check Task Manager if there isnt running something wierd... if that not it maybe its your brother pranking you :D

Compare the name in the emails with your login name.

Scan system with malwarebytes, but enable rootkit scan via settings, then scan, this will take a long time as does deep scans on each file, which why takes longer.

Check the email, does it show coming from "[e-mail]" as well does it say your account login name? It will say Dear, "Your login name" if you do no see it, then it's a phishing email from a scammer.

Some services have problems where allow sender to put anything they want as a sender, to giving you fake email that look legit, but isn't.

Do you have more than one account using same email, just so you know, you can make more than one account using same email.

It's not my pc, I changed the password on my phone and without logging in my pc again, I get these email

I checked that, it is my username and it is [e-mail]. I didn't create any other account and I can click to see the hacker's location and it's always from weird countries every email (I'm guessing is VPN)

Just a test, make a new email with a different email provider, if using outlook, use Gmail, if using Gmail, use outlook, or etc basically use another service.

Then change your email to that new email you made, and see what happen.


Also to point out, if you're using private network like VPN, Proxy, or private custom dns service, they might be your leakers.

I'll try this and wait a few days to see if I get another email. I don't use any VPN or proxy, the only possible leaker would be my internet provider, but it's only my steam that someone try to hack over and over, no other accounts, not even my email.

Which provider is this getting spammed anyway? Yahoo? Outlook? Private ISP email?

Yea i'm familiar with them, I sign up to them before it was hotmail during the good old internet dial up days. But yea Microsoft had a exploit problem where scammers can email you spoof as any sender they wanted. Gmail had this problem years ago as well but they got it fixed, but not sure if Microsoft ever got this fixed at all, but if it's happening again, then might need to be reported to support.

Do keep my posted if you're getting spammed with your new email service you're with.

Ok now it's becoming weird, I created a Gmail and changed my steam email to it. But I'm still getting those emails of someone trying to enter my account on my hotmail/outlook, not my gmail that is now assigned to my steam.

Then as I assume those are most likely fake emails.

If you want check something, open one of those email you're getting on your hotmail, but don't click anything in it, hover your mouse over the link, and you see a highlight to the bottome left of your bowser URL address, and read it.
