[my computer] is available for streaming?
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but when I log into my work computer Steam tells me my home computer is available for streaming. Does this mean that I can play games installed on my home computer on my work computer? That would be nice, but I can't work out how to do it. All the doco seems to be about streaming to my phone or TV, which I don't want to do.

can you please stop thinking just because you can at home and not at work is same thing, traffic can be blocked or worse if you get caught in it, you might not have a job anymore.

we are not here to judge you, but dont come back here and cry over it.

see this post as heads up , nothing else.

Well, I'm the boss so I can pretty much do as I please, but I'm not planning on gaming at work as it's not a good look. During the week I take my work laptop to my apartment in town but the computer is at the house in the suburbs. The work machine has integrated graphics so it's not much for games but the bandwidth between sites is near-gigabit so it would be nice to be able to use the home desktop as a game server.

The answer to your OP is yes, you can stream from your home PC to your work PC.

OK, great. How do I do it? The only doco I can find refers to streaming to a tablet or TV. I've got a computer with Steam running the same account which I would assume would be enough and it should be obvious but I'm clearly an idiot and can't work out how to do it.

Play on another PC or laptop by simply logging into Steam on both computers. Then visit your Steam Library to start streaming between them.

PC TO PC REMOTE PLAY
WORKS TOO
1. Log into Steam on your gaming PC.
2. Log into Steam on any other PC or laptop.
3. Remote Play by streaming your game from the Steam Library.

- start steam on your home computer
- start steam on your work computer
- go to your library
- select your game
- click on the drop-down arrow next to the "install" button
the option to start it on your home pc and play remotely should be somewhere in the dropdown list

I only get the option to install locally or to mobile devices, which takes me to the Remote Play page. I guess the games I have aren't enabled. Oh well.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

no, we get it Dan , you are the boss and can do whstever you want, problem is so many people dont know the diffrence and think they can play game on work , and most company policy , dont have clear rules , or mix in this, i mean i dont think you will approve such that day you get people that do it without ask you first. or what company rules is.
just because i can take 10minute break and do as i see fit dont mean all other can do same. as i said greyzone plenty of them.
