xbox one controller PC bluetooth become unresponsive randomly i have to alt + tab to make it work again = FIX BUY Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows
Hello guys,

I have been playing with Xbox one controller on PC via an ordinary Bluetooth stick. I have tried games like Dark Souls 3, Crash bandicoot n sane trilogy, Super Street Fighter IV, and so on.

In each game, I have faced an issue when the controller went unresponsive at random times. The only fix for me was to alt+tab out of game and alt+tab back to the game to make controller work again. The controller was still in sync since it was paired with Bluetooth also a light on the controller stay lid all time, it was not reconnecting or pairing. No, it was still paired however at random times it just went unresponsive and I have to alt + tab the game and alt + tab back to make controller register inputs again. Most severe it was on Super Street Fighter IV, when in 30 min I have to this alt+tab 5 times.

This was really not optimal for many games, and it really crushed any immersion within the game.

I have been looking for hours for any solution, try each one which I could find however nothing worked for me.

Then I bought Microsoft Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows the USB stick which is a Microsoft proprietary and it before it was the only solution how to connect Xbox controller wirelessly via PC.

(black USB stick)

Even though I could connect my Xbox one controller via an ordinary Bluetooth stick.

Since I bought Microsoft Xbox one Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows and paired my Xbox one controller I did not have any issues since. Now I could play for hours and gamepad would not go unresponsive.

So guys if want to fix this I would suggest trying Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows.

Before I spent hours searching for this issue even though it is widespread still I could not find any working solution.

I wanted to share this fix since I could not find any working solution online.

I hope this fix will help someone as well.

USB Bluetooth is horrible, don’t use it for controllers. Just buy a PCI WIFI card, almost all come with a BT module.

Could you try it and see if it fixes the issue for you?

Just wanted to say that Google led me here, and this post solved my issues. Some weird update to my BT controller drivers meant that I started experiencing this issue. Turning off power management for the BT controller fixed it!

Glad to hear that!
If you are using a Bluetooth adapter that uses a USB port or uses the USB interface on the motherboard, try to disable the power management on USB devices in Devices Manager
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
