keep in mind no game name no network information , its like many steam user forget thing in traffic into them.
point is you said multiplayer game does it happend in single player game, because then its your pc that has the issue.
ps.
This dont ruleout steam update windows core update and GPU Driver update. again so many things can effect this.
and why single player game , can be a very good idea to ruleout alot of things.
most single player games dont use network at all, and still need all be update also.
and most will say work there thrn rest can be network issue in top of this.
do have new game release and not anything older then skyrim SE , or better Resolution game.
or what that pc have in spec, if this is old toaster pc then run what that can handle thats my point here.
way to many missing pc spec information.
and if you dont even have win10, then you are already in trouble , 2023 then win8 will be death and already is by MS in main support. only extended is left, so they will not fix anyting for a normal user.
This is not a network issue. And it isn't a PC issue. It is a Steam Client issue. I just built the PC in December, Win10, 16gb ram, RTX 2070 Super, and I have a 35" ultra-wide. Keep in mind I also stated that this started in the last week after a Steam client update.
I certainly wouldn't rule out a Windows update putting in a setting that ♥♥♥♥♥ things up.
No you just added the missing information thats should have been there in topic. and its not a toaster pc.
and what does that tell you " Steam support's only feedback was to come here."
they are also in Trouble and dont know, its you that need to understand safeboot mode and test and go though process of Elimination of cause.
freel free to enter small mode , and even reduce every option in steam client to ID if your have hardware issue, like GPU accelration in steam client. , even had one that need to turn it on to get it to work, so thing depend on Driver also on the GPU card,
make a clean GPU Driver installation and that is in custom install, then checkbox is there.
and dont say you have heat issue or fans issue even that is common in summer now. or to much dust inside pc, plenty of post with such issue before , and i doubt you as experinece user make such mistake, but we are all humans and can make such mistake.
and learn fast , when should it not happend , its rare such mistake is learn in pc idle .
feel free to make a burn test , to get pc cpu and gpu at workinh 100% test, do you have enough cooling and fans and test that pc can operating at 100%, if this is news to you, then i bet you find the cause now , i doubt your pc can handle 24hour burn test, and that say it all.
but i bet your pc cant even do 1 hour full load task, then you cant even hold a game up.
join whatever test app, or cpu/gpu reseacrh and see max load on pc and can your pc handle it.
@Crazy Tiger - I found a focus logging app that was suggested to someone back when this was happening to them in 2018. The app says "no foreground application" when it happens.
All - I do update my PC as soon as updates are available. My wife does not. However, this first occurred immediately after we had the latest steam client pushed. It happened when we both played Stardew right afterwards. It has happened to me on every game since. Usually takes 5-10 minutes and it only occurs once.
@Iceira - Your posts are a tad frustrating. Steam "cannot provide information about future updates or fixes" and so they advise coming here to discuss. I took that to mean bugs are discussed here and Steam uses this a single point of data entry to find information they need on client bugs. You ask for a world of information that doesn't have impact on my issue. Additionally, you fail to read the post and make inferences that are incorrect. I'm sorry if I have somehow made you angry. Feel free to ignore any of my posts.
but try get a hands on tech person maybe he can see all the things you dont know about.
and you seen to think this is a steam issue only, gl with that, then you will see 1 million atleast in complain over pc lost its focus. ( just so you get it, there is 250 to 350 millons active steam user every day, im sure the thread will be flooded with complain if you are right.

- Dont use big picture mode
- Disconnect your controller if u have one
- Put yourself offline in steam chat
-Checked Big Picture and I think it is already off. Under Settings->Interface "Start Steam in Big Picture Mode" is unchecked. Under Settings->In-Game "Use the Big Picture Overlay" is also unchecked.
-Disconnected my controller
-Opened Friends & Chat and put myself as offline
Started up Stardew Valley and played for 5 minutes when suddenly it alt-tabbed to the command window that runs my Stardew mods. This made me realize that it does indeed bring a different window to the foreground when running Stardew. However, Rocket League or Rogue Legacy just lose focus and no other window comes to the foreground. I tried opening a command prompt window before loading Rogue Legacy but it did not alt-tab to that command prompt window.
Close some apps and test it.
Are you running any keyboard or mouse related apps?
Edit: Closed the programs and then killed the additional 5 Razer tasks still running. Also killed a Microsoft Office Click2Run process. Still no joy.
Btw do you have a multi monitor setup?
- Disable gaming mode in windows (Windows key + I -> Gaming -> Game mode)
- Set the priority to High of the game in the Task Manager when you are playing it
- Launch Steam and the game as Administrator
- Windows key + I -> System -> Notifications & Actions -> Turn them off
- Open services.msc, go to Windows Error Reporting Service, Right Click Properties and set Startup type to disabled
I will try the other suggestions. Thank you so much for the tips!
