Can I buy DLC from GOG and use it on my steam games?

GOG is having their summer sale and I want to buy DLC for a game I own on steam. Will it work?

You make a mistake not tell what game. some game has own check dlc added, problem is more a patch issue after its added.

i recall a bethesda game where dlc was on the CD-rom but not in steam , and they call it more balance or whatever from game devs, this just dont stop a person that own cd-rom to add the file himself,

so NO to that game devs dont know and games client might not patch things you dont own in that client , and its more a patch issue then a DLC issue, and what about validate game files even that is a issue maybe. and thats why NO is said , but game devs dont care you paid for it, but dont sit a cry if save game is a issue later thats your problem.

All that doesn't answer OPs question. DLC being on a disc that may or may not be updated doesn't change the question.

No need to talk about possibilities of DLC on a disc as OP has not even mentioned if they own the game on Disc in the first place. Keep it simple and on point. If you want to go the disc route explanation ask if OP owns the game on disc and what game it is. Even then the answer is still no they can't use a GOG purchased version on Steam version. however depending on what answer OP gives you may be able to help them access DLC on a disc.

OP: No you cannot mix and match base game and DLC between stores. That goes for Steam, GOG, Uplay or any other platform

problem is more if a patch is made , how will you get it update then its not known by online client. ( and thats why its best to not mix it up. )

None of which changes that NO YOU CANNOT. DLC bought on GoG only works on their version of the game. Whether you can manually patch that DLC or make it work on Steam doesn't matter and would actually be in violation of Steam's rules.

It does if your modifying files. An item bought on one stores platform can only legally be used on that platform. Modifying the file to get it on another platform you didn't buy it on would be piracy

It would be like buying a PS4 game gives you the license to use it on PS4. You aren't entitlted to have it on Xbox.

It also doesn't change the fact that DLC bought on Steam WON'T work. At best you'd have to modify files and put your Steam account at risk to POSSIBLY get some DLC to work and have a slew of issues with it

The correct answer OP is no. Each platform has its own infrastructure. Content bought on 1 platform stays on that platform unless the dev's offer otherwise.

yeah gl with that , no game devs will go down that road after last time they lost in court about it , Legit Bought item. but as i said 2 times now steam will not help you, if you get issue with it.
