Steam controller not working with abandonware game

So I’m trying to play Nocturne with the Steam controller, but after setting up the controller configuration with it, none of the buttons on the controller work. I have the Steam overlay box checked, so idk what the problem is. Can any of you guys help me out?

if none of the steam options work you can always use Anti-micro or Joy2key to map keyboard keys directly on your controller.

I sometime use those for old games that don't have any official gamepad support Or that just don't detect modern gamepad properly.

Which Nocturne are you talking about? Because if it's the one from 1999 I would say no controller would work with it, it wasn't designed with them in mind at all.

If you mean ShinMegami's version that one should probably, but I don't even know that it's on Steam either of them.

I’m talking about the 1999 game. Also, the game has a controller option in the options menu, but idk how to use it with the Steam controller.
