(Resolved/PEBKAC error) I just realized tax is not refunded.
How do I get my money back? Can I get my money back? Never mind I can guess what the answer is.

Why did I decide to stop to "try before you buy" again? Altruism? I forgot what that word means. Whoopsie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One of my friends has been refunding a lot of games on steam. He will be extatic to know about this :\

If you return a game you've bought on Steam, you get back the same amount you paid for it, tax included.

One of your 'friends' will be in for a nastier surprise than this imagined slight (tax is included in refunds, dude). If your 'friend' refunds too much and too often, or a combination of both of those, for WHATEVER reason, they will find their ability to return or refund things COMPLETELY forbidden.

They need to take better care of what they buy, research their purchases before putting one more penny into a game.

Depends on country you live in. USA is not such a country.

He is not my 'friend' (me). He is my friend and he doesn't abuse system. He actually tries the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game legit before he buys it. If he doesn't like it he returns it. So nobody is getting a nasty surprise.

I am pissed at my country because it screwed me like this (one of few that do this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). And I am pissed at Valve for not making it abundantly clear that tax is GONE and there is probably no way of getting it back. Because if you try to get it back it will cost you far more in time and effort.

Aaand looks like I made a mistake. There is a 45 dollar fee on the game. But valve doesn't actually charge you that ammount. So I had to go into account to check. And it is 40 dollars in and 40 dollars out.

Whoops. Sorry. Too much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ going on and I am on hair trigger :\

You most certainly get the tax refunded, especially for purchases made in the US. The tax is part of the purchase. If you refund the purchase, you get everything refunded including any tax applied.
