RPG Maker mv BGM problem

So Im trying to put in music in rpg maker mv. I have the correct files, the music appears in "Play BGM menu" and plays the music. When I get into a cutscene however the music doesn't play. This is the case for the default music too. Even when I get into the map options and set it up to automatically play music it doesn't work either. It just seems like Bgms don't work at all for some reason.
