can I get around regional pricing with a vpn?

i just tried to gift my friend Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 on sale. Steam won't let me buy it for her and there's no option to pay the difference. only displays, "Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region." will a vpn fix this for us? or is there a better way around it?

You can, but you shouldn't. It's not allowed by Steam

Digital gift cards are the answer.

If just using a VPN to get around regional pricing was a solution they'd just do away with regional pricing in the first place. And everyone would just buy games from the cheapest region... clearly that would be a problem.

Sometimes when it takes you ten seconds to think of a workaround, someone else already thought of it in five seconds fifteen years ago...

whats the point in a gift card like wow i can buy a gift card and send it to them thats basically like gifting them the game like whats the difference between a gift card and gifting a game at this point i will just give them my credit card or log into their accounts

With a wallet gift card they can buy stuff on the market or games that can not be gifted for some reason.

Sharing your credit card is a fast way to get all involved accounts suspended.
