You can edit Font/Sizing by navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\resource\styles in Windows Explorer and editing the file steam.styles with notepad. Make a copy of the file so you have stock settings backed up.

If you want Valve to give you the option, join...

You could check the option to Scale Text and Icons to match monitor settings located in Steam settings (under interface Tab). Unfortunately this also makes the games icons much bigger.

Steam follows your Windows DPI settings. So increase your desktop DPI and Steam will follow suit. If it doesn't, enable Steam's according option.

I notice the thread linked to in post #3 above has been locked, so I am digging up this old thread instead.

In post #2 here Zaros says you can manually enlarge the font in Steam by editing the steam.styles file in Notepad - but it is a 71kb file and the word 'font' appears a million times. My question if anyone knows is do I edit the font size in the entire file - I mainly want a larger font for when I mouse over the game images that are displayed in the desktop app's Store (you know, when a pop up box then opens showing what it's been rated by players and the tags associated with the game) but if I have to change the font size everywhere I'm okay with that too. Usually I use my web browser for things like community etc. where obviously I can change the settings in the browser.

Otherwise, I notice in that now-locked thread mentioned above that there are skins available but those posts were older - does anyone know of a good skin to increase font sizes that enables all current Steam features then?

Steam / Valve do not give a ♥♥♥♥ about the accessibility of their client application. They are a perfect example of raw capitalism at work. Older users, those with vision issues etc are simply far less important than profit.

The latest so called UI update in recent months is all the evidence you need. Not only do they see no reason to provide browser style zooming (ctrl mousewheel), they have also cleverly removed the work arounds that did exist such as editing css.

Here's a new and very helpful word for you

Enshitification (noun)

Definition:

The Steam client application

PS:

I write this very post in a ridiculously small font in a text column that uses approx 22% horizontal space of my display. Those huge swathes of empty teal to the left and right are just magnificent!

Hi ash, thanks for reply. I know what you mean about the waste of monitor space, my monitor is relatively small (22" I think) and I still have the narrow column in the middle with masses of space either side.

Hi Infinityskully, you've given a link but not sure what to? I guess it's just a meme?

Just report the malicious link spamming.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
