Redeem old Keys
I just found my old copy of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and wondered if it was possible/ever been to redeem it still, today.

Is there anybody out there left alive, that can tell?
Is there a website where i can look up, if a Games Keys can be redeemed or not?

Why though? The game was shut down about 8 years ago. It's no longer playable.

the servers have been shut down

If it didn't come with a Steam key, it's unlikely to work on Steam. You can try it by entering the key, though as said don't be surprised if it won't work.

Wasn't that game published by EA? Might want to try on Origin to see what happens when you try to redeem it there.

I've already asked over at RoR 3-4 Days ago if it was possible to run their Client through the Steam Version and clock hours, no response.

I havent been digging very deep into this game. maybe I missed something, this is not looking like a licensed warhammer game

this game has nothing to do with steam at this point in time, and most likely never will.

Return of Reckoning is a reverse engineered private fan project, reviving the Warhammer Online.

It's just a play of thought, that, if Steam is distributing the same Client as they build theirs upon, it should be possible.

its not coming to steam. the people that made it are playing with fire right now. the people that own the warhammer IP can sue them and shut down the server if they wish.

your old activation keys are worthless. those keys are for the original game and the people making the private server have no access to those activation keys.

None of that is relevant, though. If the key you have isn't a Steam key, you can't redeem the game on Steam.

As i said: Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning - https://steamdb.info/app/17420/

Its listed, it has a hub, it has a board. Theres still Gifts being traded, even if the prices are steep.
I just wonder if i could modify it.

Never said its coming to Steam.

A Google search would learn you that you can only add it as a non-Steam game: https://www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29927

Yes, i already have done that.

But i was wondering.

Warhammer Online was once distributed over Steam.
I recently installed Battlefield 2 again, and here it was the same case.

Battlefield 2 had its Servers pulled, and the battlelog/bf2hub appeared to step in. You could modify the Steam Version to play on the unofficial Online mode.

My thought here was: The main Servers for Warhammer Online are gone, but if i had it on my Account, i could download/install it here on Steam, then get their Patcher into the Steam version, and somehow make Steam recognize it as executable for WAR.

But as it looks, i am the one here failing to communicate that, so case closed.

Reading various threads on that forum I linked shows it doesn't work that way. All of them mention that you have to add the RoR launcher as a non-Steam game to start things up.
