Do I get a trading card if I buy more than a certain amount?
I just bought more than $11 in wallet but the card didn't come in.

Yes. But they were delayed for me earlier when I bought a few games, took about 5 minutes before they showed up in my inventory. Server lag... give it a few.

I haven't spent over $11, however I did notice that when making purchases there was no information on the screen about progress on getting the trading card.

In past sales it would show a slider bar/progress and would let you know how many trading cards you would earn?

Did you buy a game with wallet funds, or did you add money to your wallet?
I think it only works if you buy games.

Mine did show the progress bar below my cart. Again, did you buy a game or did you add wallet funds?

If you bought a game, and got no card, contact support.

The progress bar comes and goes for some people. I haven't seen it on my main account for several sales now but I see it all of the time on an alt account of mine. Steam still tracks the amounts paid during the sale and provides the necessary cards without the progress bar. The progress bar is just a helpful display and doesn't dictate card distribution.

Is the Discovery queue the only way to get free cards? And it's only one a day this year?

Any purchase you make will contribute towards free cards. It doesn't have to be the discovery queue, and it's throughout the 2021 summer sale.

With that said, I think pre-orders don't count.

Zuko, glad the cards showed up for you.
Every big sale seems to have its own different bugs, though card drops seems to be a common one.

muckymucks- yes, only 1 card drop per day from Discovery Queue this time.
