Victim of Phishing Scam "We had trouble verifying your Captcha"
I stupidly clicked one of those links on a Discord and now my account has been hacked.
I go to change my password and I cannot do it because I get a "we had trouble verifying your Captcha" from the verification emails that I receive.

I cannot even send a customer support ticket as it also requires verification and I am locked in a vicious loop. I am at my wits end and hope someone from the customer team can help or if someone knows how I can successfully change my password and recover my account.

I am still logged into Steam via Desktop client so I am able to send messages hopefully to the community forum.

Giving away your login credentials on a fake website does not mean you were hacked.
You just did something stupid.

Thanks for the reply. I cannot change password because it sends a verification code to my email address and when I enter it I get "we had trouble verifying your Captcha" I guess that is what the hack does. So how am I meant to contact Steam support when they send a verification which I cannot use?
I cannot find an email or telephone number for them at all.
Because there is no email or telephone number.
ok it seems the "scam, hack" call it whatever you want prevented me from recovering my account due to capitcha errors but I was able to finally able to successfully enter the Capitcha code after an hour successfully. I've now changed my password as a precaution. Lesson learned.
You arent finished here. Changing the password will barely secure your account. You dont even need to change it, without your Steam Guard code they cant login another client into your account.

The issue is: they are still logged in. Deauthorize all devices, delete all Api Keys. Dont forget to invalidate your recovery codes and generate new ones.
Captcha codes on steam have always had issues. Also it is TUESDAY which means MAINTENANCE day.

Those things have ZERO to do with your account being phished.
