No, it has nothing to do with piracy, a USB stick has less "power" than a HDD. You see, modern games need a fast read & storage medium, something a USB stick is not capable of.
Old games, like DOS games, will not have any problems with it.
what? there are USB Sticks with 400-500mb/s write/read, same or higher than HDDs.
for example: Samsung FIT Plus
more than enough read speed to play games
True, but as Silicon Vampire said, they are not really built for it, generally.
If your computer has a USB 3.0 port, it will run at those speeds.
But if your computer only has USB 2.0 ports, they operate and transfer data at much slower speeds, and the 3.0 stick will only run at 2.0 speeds if it is placed in a 2.0 port.
Not everyone has the newest and latest computers with the newest tech. My laptop has a 3.0 port. My desktop, that is only 6 months older than my laptop, has only 2.0 ports. A 3.0 stick runs at full speed on my laptop. but it runs much slower on my desktop, because the technology on my desktop is not as advanced, even though my desktop has much better overall specs than my laptop does.
USB 3.0 is a 15 year old technology.
