win10 will be the last OS, sure there has been many issue, nothing new in this, i have been there from Dos age.
but a good rule that is now outdate, if game was made to win7+ then it work at win10.
but MS has change this to get even older game that now work at win10. many can confirm this.
problem is thirdpart app can still be a issue like GFW that is gone. but i can start game and in fallout3 use a GFW remover, this was just a example.
but i think you need to wait for event sale, if you want to save a buck or 2, why pay old full price for things in the past. ( imo.) and im not saying rebuy old game. just because i do this, so i can DL from laptop anywhere. ( and that is always nice to get ride of read errors at cd-rom/dvd so keep that in mind also.
32bit/64 bit , does not matter, Windows supports both.
It will not run on Mac Catalina though. Catalina got rid of 32bit support and Civ IV is a 32bit application.
It will not run on Catalina.
Also if you want to buy the game, wait a few days, Steam Lunar Sale starts on the 23th and you usually can grab the Civ IV complete collection ( all DLC and Colonization Remake) for under 5 bucks.
