PlayStation 5 Controller showing Xbox controller buttons in all games
Hello. I have a PS5 controller wired into my computer. Even though Steam recognizes that it is a PS5 controller, all of my games display Xbox buttons. All the Steam menus confirm that I have a PS5 controller but none of my games do.

I've been having this problem for a long while now. I've tried so many different things. I'm looking for genuine help or answers. Please and thank you.

Do these games even support Playstation controllers and their button layouts?

Unless PS prompts are supported by the developers in game, you will always see Xbox prompts.

Note: some games do support PS prompts.

Few games support Playstation gamepad button display. If they show up as Xbox only it's because the developer didn't care to put in for Playstation.

Otherwise you might find a setting for it in some of the options.

Could you give me some examples that you might know that support PS5 prompts? I might have already tried those games.

That's normal, yes. Xbox is native to Windows and most game devs don't add in support for other controllers but rather use the native prompts.

For obvious reasons, former PS exclusives support those things natively. The one I think of is Horizon, but take any former PS exclusive title.
Then there's Rocket League and Skullgirls.

You'll have to disable Steam's input mapper, or the games will just keep on seeing an XBox gamepad. Without the input mapper, your games will be able to read the PS gamepad directly.

Is there a way to know if the game supports a PS5 other than the in game menu?

Wow, that is not a lot of games. So not even a PS4 controller would work? These are the only games on steam that a PlayStation controller would work at all?

Could you explain where to find this Input mapper? Is this the same as the Steam Controller Settings?

No, there are much more games on Steam that you can play with a DS4, but that list isn't for on Steam. For example, I've played the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth (and related) games with the DS4 and those aren't listed.

Basically any game that supports controllers on Steam can be played with the DS4. You just get Xbox prompts because most devs don't do the extra mileage.

I don't have an issue with the Xbox prompts, since I regularly play on my 360 and PS4. I can easily interchange the controllers.

You'll have to contact the developers or ask in the game forum or by other community means.
