What are the rules on sexually explicit content on steam?
Hi all!

There's been quite a few sweeping changes to how steam approaches sexually explicit content over the past year, and I've noticed since then that any sexual content whatsoever that I report, even if it's direct, literal pornography, will not be banned. No matter how long it's been uploaded before, how thorough my reports are, or how much attention I bring to it (Even using steam support in a single instance, which was warranted), these artworks definitely do not get banned, ever.

Despite that, I've had sexually explicit content of mine banned in the past, before these new changes. These identical artworks can be found uploaded by other users, being uploaded for longer, on public profiles, that you can visit at any time. The double standard is clear.

However, those artworks will never be taken down, it seems, since steam's stance on sexual content seems to have changed drastically. Since it isn't at all clear what steam's ruling on this is, can someone make is abundantly, explicitly, without a shadow-of-a-doubt clear to me what steam's EXACT stance on sexually explicit artwork on steam is?

The images need to have real life people in them, not anime etc.

And yet - I can find naked images of girls on steam that have been uploaded since 2015, that I have reported, that have yet to be taken down.

So clearly, not the case.

Maybe stop searching for them or report them again.

Secondly what you deem porn may not be what others deem porn.

You expect users to tell you the exact stance of a company they don't work for?

Steam support decides that and it may be as simple as that it's up to the person reviewing the report. Or that images don't actually break rules, even though you perceive it too.

What I deem porn was deemed porn by steam, because it got banned. Identical artworks are still uploaded, have been uploaded for longer, and have not been taken down. That's the literal definition of a double standard, and shows quite clearly that the rules apparently don't apply to some.

The images clearly do, since identical (Literally identical) artwork has been banned.

Sexually explicit artwork isn't allowed on the general forums. That is the stance.

Again, the definition of what is sexually explicit is open for interpretation, so if your not sure don't post it.

No they are your definition of what you deem to be porn. If you report and it is not seen by Steam Support as been porn it will not get removed so there is no double standard.

You seeing it as porn does not make it porn, in the same way SJW's like to tell the world their rules whilst telling everyone who tries to interfere in their lives to "move away" but not as polite as that.

It's not my definition, it is literally steam's definition since they banned artwork for that reason. That's a simple fact that happened, and you bringing up "SJWs" is simply showing how immature you really are.

I think someone else answered the question better, and as I expected - It seems to just be entirely random. I'm not sure why you wish to be so aggressive and rude over it, but I'll leave you to your vices.

Your OP post is asking what the "definition" is and you are simply now arguing for arguing sake because you expect affirmation of your points and that is not forthcoming.

It's not random, its based on the moderator reviewing it. Plenty of porn will be porn regardless of who views it but there are plenty of cases where when you push the line some people will find it a violation and others don't.

It's subjective. There is no mathematical formula to remove personal views and opinions.

But are you finding these as artworks or screenshots in the general section or games minors also play? Or uploaded and attached to adult only game hubs? That might be the difference.

Seem to me peopel have forgot, what dark age we once had, if you want people to be what it was from 100 of years ago, then it will not happend, rest is simple a matter whats ART to whats Porn, and ypu know what, let steam set its own limit, not because i say so, but if you think all countrys in the world can agree on this then you already know that will never happend, and im not so sure its not good for men not see how women actual look like, so they can start learn controll of feelings.

and i doubt we can debat this on steam , and i ask myself why has this thread not be locked yet.

but if you want a Danish view on this, women could once had no BH then i grow up, thats has change, i wont say its better now, but you get a more natural view point on it, but again sit a judge what rest of the world want, forget it. so we are back at each country view point on things.
this just tell everybody here what all country and peopl are , FULL of BS in what they think its right and wrong.

im not so sure whatever someone opinion is will not change anything , its steam forum and that debat is already have policy.

im more in the middle here , i dont want porn ban i dont want it everywhere. more a if you seek it then you find it. ( and as long it dont hurt anyone, then you cant stop it, we even see ppl try stop it then its world oldest profession, and it has been there sense time can tell, so ban it no , you just made it even more secluded. ) and that can be even worse.

im sure there is alot of adult here that agree, its has been here before steam , and it will never go away.

steam should reflect the real world, oops did i say that.
